How to Use Your Dies as a Stencil

After the past two weeks, I am so ready for Spring here in Texas! I have lived here all of my life, and I have never seen the whole state get clobbered by snow and ice, much less have the power grid fail! We were lucky and only lost power. We were able to stay with a family member until the power was restored. No pipes or water issues, BUT we didn’t have internet for over a week. It’s so hard to type a blog on a tiny phone screen! 🙂 Enough of that, let’s check out this card I made for club last month.

The Simply Succulents Bundle was the 2nd on my wish list (those Hydrangeas are sooooo gorgeous, so that was my 1st). I also ordered the Blending Brushes that were just sitting on my desk begging for ink! This is what I came up with! I love how the colors contrast against the white space of the stenciled image.

All you have to do is cut out a stencil using the large die from the Potted Succulents dies with Basic White cardstock. (Really any color works, but I am using the colored stencil for another card!-BONUS) I did place some washi tap on the edges so it would not move too much while I was using the Blending Brushes. These Brushes are SOOOOO SOFT! I almost want one for an emotional support tool! You just swirl in the ink color of your choice and then swipe in a circular motion on your surface. They wash out with little effort! I used Rococo Rose, Mint Macaron, Soft Seafoam, and Rich Razzleberry to make the colors blend and resemble succulents.

To complete the card, I just stamped on coordinating cardstock colors and cut them out using the rest of the Potted Succulents dies. I wanted a soft focal point behind the cut outs that wouldn’t compete too much with the gorgeous background. The Stitched Shaped dies are a must, I use them all the time! I used Vellum Cardstock with the Circle to make the soft back drop.
