Watercolor Background Using Markers and Blocks

It’s been a crazy last few weeks of 2020 and it spilled a little into 2021. You know when you meet your out of pocket-you have to get your visits in with no money! I am ready to dive back into crafting!

So, have you had a chance to look at the the NEW 2021 Stampin’ Up! Mini catalog and Sale a Bration??? You are in for a treat! The Hydrangea Haven Suite is just gorgeous! And now Stampin’ Up! offers Blending Brushes-I can’t believe I haven’t tried them yet! (well, I have pet them since they are super super soft! It’s like an emotional support tool!) You really need to check both catalogs out to maximize your purchases! Who doesn’t like FREE!?

I made this card for any LOVE occasion plus it was our technique for this month card club. With the COVID cases rising, we all opted to do a virtual club. I wanted to use a technique that everyone could do from home. It even includes a video tutorial on how to make the card and there is a special guest appearance in the video!

This technique can be used with any water based markers and an acrylic block. Add a spritz of water here and there and you have an amazing background!

This is a rare occasion to not stamp on a card! I did run the Melon Mambo piece through the SCEM (Stamp, Cut, Emboss Machine) with the Scripty Embossing Folder. I then adhered that to the Thick Basic White card base. The Basic White heart is punched out using the Heart Punch Pack. The detailed heart is cut out using Silver Foil and the Many Hearts dies.

In the video, I show how to create the Poppy Parade fine speckles and the Wink of Stella accents. It is finished off with the Whisper White ribbon from the Flowers for Every Season Ribbon combo pack and some Basic Jewels.

Now that you have watched the video, what are you going to create using this technique? You can visit my new Private FB page for live demos, product tips, card creations, silliness, and member only specials!

Many blessings! Laura

Using a Tea Light with Vellum

I can’t believe that Christmas is in days!! Wow! But I think we can all agree that 2020 can see it’s self out! It has been crazy busy in our house these past couple of weeks! And now it is cold (finally) in Texas-we may see a few stray snowflakes too! So this card was a perfect pick for today!

For today’s card, I used products from the Snowflake Splendor suite! One of the many reasons I love Stampin’ Up! is that they are on top of the latest trends in style, colors, and pattern combinations! The Snowflake Splendor DSP has a whimsical blend of blues and grays with a pop of purple to shake up this nontraditional color scheme. It makes for quick card making too! I just look at the back of the paper pack and the colors are listed right there for easy reference!

  1. I used Stampin’ Seal on a piece of the Snowflake Splendor DSP (4″ x 5 1/4″)and placed it top of the front of the Misty Moonlight card base. (8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″ folded in half).
  2. I then ran two from above through the SCEM with the label die from the So Many Snowflakes dies. I ran it through a second time to get it to cut all the way through both layers.
  3. Next, I cut out a piece of Vellum with the Nested Label a little bigger than the label die from step 2.
  4. Use Stampin’ Seal+ on the very edge of the Vellum label and adhere it to the inside of the card to cover the opening we just cut out.
  5. Cut several smaller sized snowflakes using Balmy Blue Glimmer paper, Silver Foil, & Misty Moonlight papers.
  6. Stamp the vellum with the sentiment of your choice with Night of Navy ink. Be sure to let it dry.
  7. Layer the snowflakes and embellish with the Iridescent Pearls.
  8. There is a piece of Whisper White inside the card and a bow made from the Crinkled Whisper White Ribbon.

It’s hard to see in this picture, but the recipient can place a flameless tealight under the card tented open. My girls at club loved this card last month!

Be sure to grab some items on the Year End Close out! A lot has already sold out-so don’t waste any time!

Many Christmas Blessings to you all!

Quick Curvy Christmas in a Snap!

I will admit-when I first saw this Curvy Celebrations bundle as a pre-order last month, I figured I could wait until January to buy the bundle. After seeing sooo many sweet, elegant, eclectic, and creative uses for this bundle, I had to have it! Then I noticed that the Curvy Christmas and the Classic Christmas 6×6 paper are available only now through January 4, 2021! I bought the whole kit and caboodle!

Everyone can purchase this bundle or the individual items-grab them today to make your quick Christmas cards! This card was inspired by Dawn Olchefske’s creation that I found on Pinterest. I changed the bow to the Metallic Mesh ribbon and then used the more ornate curvy die.

Here is what I used to create this card: Curvy Christmas and Curvy dies ; Just Jade card base (8 1/2 “ x 5 ½”); DSP (1”x5 ¼”); Cherry Cobbler (5 ¼” x 3 1/2 “); Whisper White (4”x 5 1/4 “); Metallic Mesh Ribbon, Basic Rhinestones; Just Jade ink, Cherry Cobbler Ink; Basic Gray ink.

Cut a strip of the Classic Christmas DSP to 1″x 5 1/4″ to place at the bottom.

Use the curvy die of your choice and place it about at the half way point of the Cherry Cobbler cardstock and run through the Stamp, Cut, & Embossing machine. (SCEM) Next, I stamped the pine boughs with Just Jade-but to make the curves, I only inked up half of the stamp. Then you flip the stamp the other direction to follow the curve on the other side. Cut a strip of the Classic Christmas DSP to 1″x 5 1/4″ to place at the bottom.

Stamp the berries with Cherry Cobbler ink and the sentiment with Basic Gray. Then I tied the Metallic Mesh Ribbon in a knot and finished the card with some Basic Rhinestone jewels.

Stay tuned this week for the Merry & Bright Online Extravaganza!!! Most of the 2020-2021 Catalog items are on sale at 10% off! Here is the list of exclusions for the sale. Everything else in the Annual catalog is on sale!

I send out monthly thank you gifts to those who choose me as their demonstrator! It means a lot and helps this stay at home mom a bunch!

Northern Lights Technique

I have never been to see the Northern Lights, but I can only imagine what an incredible display it emits! I recently saw a card on our Demonstrator Planning Place FB page (one of the perks of being a demo-connecting and seeing creations from all over) by Kylie Bertucci from Australia where she used Pear Pizzazz for the card. It was stunning and the best part is that you only use ONE color!!

I thought about how to make it more like a peaceful Christmas Scene and came up with Pool Party as my card front piece to sponge. Your fingers will get a little inky-but that’s a good day in my book! I used a Stampin’ Sponge (I cut into 1/4’s) and some Night of Navy ink to sponge from the edge towards the area I wanted to be the “lights”.

After I sponged the Pool Party piece, I took out the Snow Front stamp set. It was my first time playing with this set, and it does not disappoint! It was so easy to make this scene look like fresh snow on Christmas Eve! I used a Chalk Marker and some Wink of Stella to make it more magical!

Check out the video to see how easy it is to make! I am still getting used to my new set up…..enjoy!

So now you can go make some gorgeous cards to reach out to your friends! Are you missing a few items?? Just hop on my site and get them delivered to your door!

I will send you a thank you gift as well for choosing to order from me! It really helps out my small business! Blessings!

Simple Card using Wishes & Wonder

I loved the Wishes & Wonder bundle the moment I saw it in the Stampin’ Up! Holiday Catalog! Once it came in my happy mail, it took a while to conjure an idea. I usually go to Pinterest and search the set I want to use. I saw a lot of wonderful and just stunning cards-but I wanted to make mine a little different! Then it hit me!! Door tags, buffalo plaid, and a majestic deer!

The color scheme then was simple! I wanted it to have a farmhouse Christmas vibe to it! The tag die that is included in the coordinating North Pole Wonders dies was perfect to resemble those cute door tags! It has just the right amount of texture to it and a fun trim edge! I then randomly stamped the mistletoe on the Smoky Slate card base and then adhered a piece of Whisper White that I stamped with the Buffalo Check background stamp.

There is a circle die that cuts out this adorable “Made in the North Pole” stamp! I added the deer cut out with Gold Foil and matching gold cord.

That was it! This is a card for my Stamp a Stack of Christmas cards in 2 weeks! You can purchase the items and make a ton in no time! Spend $50 or more and I will send you a thank you gift from me!

Thank you for stopping by!

Dainty Christmas Wreath

I don’t know how I passed up this gem in the Holiday Catalog!! The Ornamental Envelopes bundle has some many options you can use! I have used this on at least 4 card designs and I am still coming up with great ideas! I haven’t really used the Envelope Dies that much! I will now that the holidays are coming up! Think of all the fun and ornate envelopes you can create with the dies!!

Take a peek at the dies and stamp set!

I love the lines that you can stamp on the front of your envelope to put your recipients address on for that extra touch! I have used the ornament bunch stamp set and dies to make a fun fold card for our monthly Mystery Zoom class.

I used the card sample in the top right of the picture as an inspiration for my card. I just loved the dainty size of the greenery! First, I took a piece of Mossy Meadow (4″ x 5 1/4″) and punched a 2″ circle out of it. I used this as the mat piece for this card as well to paper save. Next, I placed it where I wanted the wreath and it served as a guide to stamp the 2 greenery stamps and the berry stamp.

I started with the darkest ink color first so I could line up the other two stamps easily. I used Mossy Meadow for the thin greenery stamp using the circle as my guide. You can also arc the photopolymer stamp to a more circular shape as well. I did overlap the ends a bit. Then I used Old Olive ink for the thicker greenery stamp using the previous stamp as my guide. The last stamp was the berries which I used Real Red ink.

To help disguise the more sparse areas, I used the flower trio stamp twice with Real Red and cut out with the coordinating die. I used Mini Dimensionals to pop some up and some I used Glue Dots. To make the flowers pop, I then added the Red Rhinestones and a Real Red Braided Trim bow. The sentiment is from Itty Bitty Christmas! Very versatile for all your holiday cards!

Do you see the the specks?? I used the flicking technique with Wink of Stella. You take the brush tip and squeeze a little of the wink to the brush tip. Then, you take the brush and flick it towards your paper from the cap.

Be sure to add this to your wish list!!! You will love all the elegant creations you can use the bundle for this holiday! If you want to order a little, use the host code below:

Holiday

Candy Cane Season!

Who doesn’t like candy canes during the holidays?? I love adding one to my hot chocolate or crushed up on top of baked goodies! After such an odd ball year, I am looking forward to the holidays to decorate and send Christmas cards!

I saw the Sweetest Borders dies that comes in this Sweetest Time bundle and fell in love! I can’t believe I haven’t used the stamp set yet! (Which has tremendous potential on its own too). I remember pulling this out of my pre-order and taking a piece of Real Red and running it through with the die!

First you take a Real Red card base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and crease with your Bone Folder. Next, take a piece of 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White and run it through the SCEM (Stamp, Cut, & Emboss Machine) with the Subtle 3D Dynamic Embossing Folder. It adds just enough visual interest and texture. Then take a 3″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Real Red and run it through with the Sweetest Borders die. To make the left side more seamless, I used a piece of Silver Foil run through the SCEM with the Tasteful Textiles 3D folder. It kind of reminds me of a Hershey’s Kiss wrapper!

The Silver Foil is then adhered down onto the Real Red and Whisper White to make the candy canes pop! I chose some Rhinestones and the 3/8″ Silver Edged Ribbon for a little extra bling! The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set (a must have!) and punched out with the Classic Label Punch! This was a fun and quick card to put together! Now to go use the Sweetest Time Stamp set!

Create a Simple Christmas Bell Card

The Cherish the Season Bundle was one of the first items on my wish list when the Holiday Catalog came out! I was drawn to the different sized bells that you can cut out with the Sounds of the Season dies and stamped images!

I had the first Stamp a Stack of cards at my house last weekend! I kept it safe and had 3 classes in a two day span. Same cards for all three classes-just limited it to 4 per class and I had 3 tables out! Plus, I saw a great idea from one of my favorite fellow demonstrators/blogger, Lyssa Zwolanek! She posted about making dividers on her site by using poster frames and handmade stands! Genius and inexpensive!

Excuse the table-but since it’s used for crafts, I don’t care if it gets messy!

This card has a few steps to make the finished product with ease! It’s very important to keep that in mind when you prepare for a Stamp a Stack of cards! Each person gets 12 cards total to make (3 designs, 4 of each). Stay tuned for the card that they loved, but took a little too long for this class! Ha ha!

Use Real Red as your card base and cut it to a tent sized A2 card. (11″ x 4 1/4″) I usually score this cut for my girls-it just makes a better crease to pre-score. I highly recommend getting a Simply Scored Scoring Tool for your craft room! You can create boxes, fun folds, accordion round décor items, and much more!

Next, I ran the Real Red through the Stamp, Cut, and Embossing machine using the Subtle Embossing 3D Folder on the front side. Then you can take a piece of the ‘Tis the Season 6×6 DSP paper and cut it to 2″ x 5 1/2″. After adhering the DSP down, you can cut out a scalloped stitched rectangle from the Stitched So Sweetly Dies. I used the 2nd to the largest sized one.

Use the Shaded Spruce & Real Red dark Blends to color in your foil holly leaves/berries.

I then used Shaded Spruce to stamp the pine branches towards the top of the rectangle being sure to over lap in the middle. Next, stamp the sentiment on the bottom of the same piece. Now you are ready to cut out your bell! This was the fun part! When I ran the biggest single bell die through the machine, the holly leaves stayed in tact! I saw other people use blends to color them in for that extra touch! (if they pop out, you can run some Stampin’ Seal on the back and put them back in place) I used dimensionals to pop it up close to the over lapped branches. The Real Red ribbon from the All the Trimmings Ribbon Combo pack was the perfect finishing touch! I was sure to cover up the over lap of the branches with the bell and the bow.

To finish the card, I popped up the Whisper White rectangle, now adorned, to the card base using Dimensionals.

Be sure to stock up and save on your DSP this month! Check out the flyer below for select patterns at 15% off!

Be sure to use October’s Host code! I will mail you a thank you gift for ordering $50 or more and for choosing me as your demonstrator! (Make your own order for totals more than $149 so you can reap the host rewards)

Many Blessings,

Laura

Winter Wonderland Card with Quick Tips

I love this time of year when the weather changes and we approach the Christmas season! This card was inspired by the sample in the Holiday Catalog on page 35 tha features the stunning Evergreen Forest 3D Embossing Folder and Foil paper!

The first card I made using the foil and embossing folder didn’t turn out quite the way I wanted it too. I ran the Gold Foil and Shaded Spruce through the Stamp, Cut, & Embossing Machine separately. This made it difficult to line up the trees the way I wanted them to.

For my second card, I adhered the Silver Foil directly to the Misty Moonlight cardstock and then ran it through the Stamp, Cut, & Embossing Machine! Much better!

TIP: To achieve crisp & even trees-adhere the foil directly to the cardstock before running it through the die cutting machine!

Another tip for this card is to paper save! The mat piece is a full piece of Whisper White, so I stamped the sentiment on that and cut it out with the Stitched Shapes circle. The embossed piece will cover up the hole and you just saved paper! When making multiples, it’s a money saver too!

I added a coordinating ribbon to his neck to look like a scarf. I also popped the moose and the sentiment up on Dimensionals.

Card Recipe:

Night of Navy card base 8 ½” x 5 ½”

Whisper White mat piece 4” x 5 ¼”

Misty Moonlight 3 ¾” x 5”

Silver Foil 3 ¾” x 2”

Scrap of Soft Suede

Night of Navy & Soft Suede ink pads

Evergreen 3D EF

Stitched Shapes Dies

I hope you enjoyed this card and tips to help you save time & money! Speaking of saving money!!! This month select Designer Series Paper is 15% off!!

Blessings! Laura
