Sweet Sunflowers

Who loves sunflowers?? They just make me smile and brightens my day! I have already made 3 projects using the Celebrate Sunflowers Bundle (154065) from the new Annual Catalog! I saw a few samples cruising Pinterest where people used their water color pencils to color the sunflower. This is what I came up with and I included the new Misty Moonlight In Color!

I used the Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, and Cajun Craze Watercolor Pencils to color the sunflower. Next, I followed it with a Blender Pen-but just lightly. I didn’t want too much blending. I liked the more crisp color changes in the petals. The strip of DSP is from the Flowers for Every Season 6×6 DSP pack. Then I stamped tone on tone with Misty Moonlight using the smaller sunflower stamp. The leaves are stamped with Just Jade and all the shapes were cut out using the Sunflowers Dies.

To finish off the card I tousled some Linen Thread behind the sunflower, used Wink of Stella on the center of the flower, and I added the sentiment.

Bring on Fall tutorial

Colorful Seasons-Fall

There are 3 different sizes of stitched labels that nestle inside one another. The best part is that the die cuts a stitched outline on both the cut out and the negative! This alone doubles your value creating a frame to tuck in an image or a sentiment. That is what I wanted to showcase with my card today!

My inspiration came from a sample that Stampin’ Up! posted for this bundle. I first off set the smallest of the label framelits and cut out a section of Crumb Cake for the card base. (and kept the cut out for another card). Then, I stamped the leaves in a random pattern using Early Espresso ink. Next, I used various colors from both Watercolor Pencils (assortments 1 & 2) to make fall color leaves. (Crushed Curry, Cajun Craze, Granny Apple Green, Daffodil Delight, Soft Suede, Old Olive) I used a Blender Pen to blend the colors together for a more natural look. I LOVE these watercolor pencils! They blend so easily with blender pens or water. Plus, they look great with out using any blending tools!

I cut out 2 Copper Foil leaves and used a bow of Copper Trim. The sentiment was stamped with Early Espresso as well!

Black Magic Dragonfly

I am so happy that Stampin’ Up! has unveiled the new Water Color pencils! So easy to use and many different way as well! (They are so popular, that they are on backorder and will be put on “not orderable” soon! So get yours now! Don’t worry, they are working on getting more, they just have to turn off the item number until the supply is back.

I decided to teach my club members the Black Magic technique. Here is how we achieved this ombre look!

We stamped the dragonfly with Craft Whisper White on to Basic Black. We then used the heat tool to dry.
We used the Tempting Turquoise for the body. Using the Calypso Coral on the inner most wing towards the body. Then Rich Razzleberry in the middle of the wing. It was finished on the tips with Melon Mambo.

Easy Peas!! So sweet looking too! I used the Blooms & Bliss DSP for the patterned strip. I thought the Brick Wall embossing folder made a great background with extra texture.
