This is one of those cards you just start to play with something new and then the pieces just come together! I made this when we were on our retreat in July! (small group and we had plenty of room between us)
It started with the Embossing Paste and Basic Pattern Decorative Masks. To create the color in the Embossing Paste, I used Highland Heather ink refill. The Palette Knives help scoop, mix, and spread your new colored Embossing Paste onto your project! Spreading the paste on to a piece Whisper White Thick card stock helped due to the weight of the paste.
TIP: Be sure to have a small pan of water ready to place your masks and tools into immediately. I helps the paste clean right off before it has a chance to dry.
I also played with the new Prized Peony Bundle! OMGEEEE! I LOVE the Peony Dies!! I spritzed my paper with a Stampin’ Spritzer and water to moisten the paper fibers. Next, I crumpled the paper and flattened it back out before I ran it through the Stamp, Cut, & Emboss Machine (SCEM). (yes—-Mine arrived yesterday!! SOO happy! I plan on doing a FB live about it this week!)
I then took a sponge and some Highland Heather ink to distress each petal piece before I assembled them.
I had cut out some sunflowers from the Sunflower dies to create other projects. I had 2 Whisper White ones left and a center cut out, so I decided to distress them a little bit with the Highland Heather. To finish off this card, I added a Gold Foil cut out from the Birds and More dies.
I started hosting Zoom Mystery Stamping events online since the pandemic started. Everyone really enjoys them and watching people try to figure out what type/kind of card style we are making is quite entertaining! Fun Folds has been the type of card we make. The best part is that it is a FREE event since you will use your paper, ink, tools, stamps, and patterned paper!! Want to try it out?? Just RSVP at Laura’s Stampin’ UP! website and sign up! I will e-mail the suggested items and paper measurements once you have signed up!
July 9th (Thursday) 8PM (CST)-10:00ish-subscribe to my newsletter and never miss an event! I have online, in person, or card kits for you to choose!
The Celebrate Sunflowers card above is a Double-Z Fold that we did for the June Mystery Stamping! Here is how to make your Double-Z Fold:
•Card Base: 4 ¼” x 11” (score at 2 ¾” & 5 ½”) Don’t fold yet •Insert Layer: 3”x 9 ¾” (score at 2 ¾” & 5 ½”) Don’t fold yet. •DSP/Patterned Paper: 5 ¼” x 4 (1 piece); 2 ½” x 4” (2 pieces) •One set or two stamp sets
•Fold your base piece (11”x 4 ¼ ”) at 2 ¾” like a mountain/valley. You want the 5 ½” part to be flat, and a Z-fold. (Fold your insert piece the same)
*Adhere your matching 2 DSP pieces to the card base that are smaller to the inside of the card and one DSP on the bigger base part of the card. –I used another piece of DSP for the insert middle part. 2 ¾”x 2 ½”. –I cut 2 pieces of Whisper White for the insert: one at 2 ¾” x 4 ¼” & the other at 2 ¾” x 2 ½”. –Decorate your outside piece of Whisper White and tape on the front of the card.
•The easiest way to adhere the two z-folds together is to lay the base piece down and press the folds together. Then place the insert with the longer side on the front. You want to be sure it will close prior to gluing it down. •Add extra focal stamps, ribbons, or embellishments!
I hope you will join us for our next Mystery Stamping Zoom class!

Who loves sunflowers?? They just make me smile and brightens my day! I have already made 3 projects using the Celebrate Sunflowers Bundle (154065) from the new Annual Catalog! I saw a few samples cruising Pinterest where people used their water color pencils to color the sunflower. This is what I came up with and I included the new Misty Moonlight In Color!
I used the Crushed Curry, Daffodil Delight, Early Espresso, and Cajun Craze Watercolor Pencils to color the sunflower. Next, I followed it with a Blender Pen-but just lightly. I didn’t want too much blending. I liked the more crisp color changes in the petals. The strip of DSP is from the Flowers for Every Season 6×6 DSP pack. Then I stamped tone on tone with Misty Moonlight using the smaller sunflower stamp. The leaves are stamped with Just Jade and all the shapes were cut out using the Sunflowers Dies.
To finish off the card I tousled some Linen Thread behind the sunflower, used Wink of Stella on the center of the flower, and I added the sentiment.

I adore mason jars! They are just cute, versatile, and there are so many creative projects you can do with the jars! The new Jar Of Flowers set and coordinating Jar Punch from Stampin’ Up! is the perfect set for this summer’s projects and the whole year! There are some Jar Shaker Domes that have double sided sticky tape on them to make your shaker cards in a snap!
I was inspired by a card I saw around Christmas time a couple years ago. The card had three jars and they were in Cherry Cobbler, Mossy Meadow, and Very Vanilla. July 4th is around the corner and I thought this would be a great Patriotic Birthday Card!
I started by stamping with the jar stamp with Basic Gray onto Real Red, Whisper White, and Night of Navy card stock. Next, punched them out with the Jar Punch and tied some Linen Thread around the jar’s neck. To create the rustic look, I ran a piece of 4″ x 5 1/4″ Crumb Cake through the die cutting machine with the Old World Paper 3-D folder. Then I distressed the raised areas to create some additional depth. Next, I ran a piece of Silver Foil through with the Lace 3-D folder to place behind the denim looking piece of DSP from the Flowers for Every Season 6X6 DSP pack.
To create the sentiment, I used the Itty Bitty Birthday stamps with the new Lovely Labels Pick a Punch! You get 6 types of labels out of one punch! The card is finished off with some Basic Pearls!
