Season of Christmas Fun Fold

I stumbled across this Explosion Card Fun Fold and I had to make one for my Fun Fold class!! It looks daunting at first glance-but I promise it’s super easy to make!

Supplies:

Card Base: 5 ½” x 8 ½”-Scored at 2 1/8” and folded to meet in the middle.

DSP: 4” x 8”- Scored at 2”, 4”, 6” & diagonally from every corner to opposite corner’s 4” score line. (see diagram)

Basic White: 2 ½” square & 2 ½” x 4” piece

Color Layer: 2 ¾” square & 2 ¾” x 4 ¼” piece

Belly Band: 3”x 9 ½”

Other Supplies: Ribbons, embellishments, adhesive, bone folder, and Paper Trimmer with scoring tool.

Fold the card base in to meet in the middle and crease with your bone folder.
4” x 8”- Scored at 2”, 4”, 6” & diagonally from every corner to opposite corner’s 4” score line. Crease the vertical lines first and carefully crease the diagonal ones inward.
Adhere your Color square and Basic White square together and then place in the center diamond above. This will hold the inside sentiment.
Stamp and decorate your Basic White 2 ½” x 4” piece and adhere to the 2 ¾” x 4 ¼” piece.
Use your DSP Belly Band 3”x 9 ½” and bend it securely (not to tight) around the closed card base. Then use Tear & Tape to join together.
Adhere your decorated piece from step 4 to cover the join line on the belly band.
Fold your inside diagonal piece into a square-rotate to make a diamond before adhering it to one side of the card base. (use Tear & Tape). Then slowly press the opposite side onto the other side of the diamond.
Open your card to see the explosion!!!

Playful Penguin Fun Fold

Or you can choose to dress up the penguin like I did for the belly band on this Triple-Fun fold! I used the Black Glitter paper and then stamped the body & face on some Basic White-a quick punch and done!

Did you see the cute fun fold too?? Here is how to make one for yourself! Super easy and what a fun way to give cards this year!

Card Base: Balmy Blue 5 ½”x 11” base

Belly Band: 1”x 11”

Coordinating DSP: 1 ½”x 5 ¼”, 1” x 5 ¼”, & (2) 3 ½” x 5 ¼”

Basic White: 4”x 5 ¼”

Add some ribbon and/or embellishments to dress it up!

Score the 5 ½”x 11” base @ 1 ¾”, 5 ½”, & 9 ¾”
Fold score lines to look like the figure below:

Adhere the DSP pieces to the card base accordingly by size.
Make label to cover the area on the belly band where you adhere together.
Decorate as desired.

I have a rule of thumb to take the color combos from the DSP-the colors are listed on the back of the paper!

Flip Up & Flip Out Fun Fold

This is a fun fold card that we made last night during our Virtual Mystery Card Night!

I was determined to find a way to keep connected back in March when the lockdown was in place. My teammate and I started these virtual classes via Zoom and they have been a great addition to the classes I offer! It is great to see people that are far away or need to be more careful about where they go for personal reasons. If you are looking for an engaging and silly group of ladies to craft with virtually, we are here for YOU!

What is a Mystery Card Night? I make a card-so far they have been fun folds-and then I craft up a Power Point to share with everyone. You use your ink, paper, stamps, and embellishments that you have on hand. (doesn’t have to be current or SU) I send the Zoom meeting ID and the suggested items to have on hand to those that RSVP. I love seeing what everyone creates by the end of the class! We have a contest on my Laura’s Creative Corner FB page for a fun prize! Check my list of events for the next one! This was a Flip Up & Flip Out fun fold that I found on On Y Go! Stamping! I loved how simple it was to follow her tutorial and how everyone would have items at home to create this for our class! The following are from her blog-why reinvent the wheel? She did a great job with these visuals!

After scoring and cutting the 8 1/2″ x 11″ piece of cardstock-the rest is really just coordinating your patterned DSP with your other items. Here are the measurements I sent to the ladies that join us Friday.

•Card Base: The base will be an 8 ½” x 11” piece of cardstock

•Insert: light color to write on; cut one 4” x 5 ¼ ”

•Card Front: Pick a color that coordinates with your DSP; cut to 4” x 5 ½ ”

•DSP: (2) pieces of one design cut 1 7/8” x 5 ½” & (2) pieces of another coordinating design cut to 1 7/8” x 5 ½”

•Other pieces: Scraps for sentiment, labels, little extras

•One set or two stamp sets •Embellishments, dies, punches, and inks of your choice •Tape, glue, dimensionals, scissors etc.

Easy Accordion Fun Fold

We had another Mystery Zoom Card class last night! We created an Accordion Fold that I saw on Lisa Curcio’s blog! It makes me laugh when the girls questions why they are cutting, folding, or scoring! Then they are so happy when they see their final product! We have a lot of laughs and have time to catch up or get to know any new people! You should join us on the next Mystery Zoom night! Here are the supplies and measurements to create your own!

•Card Base: 4 ¼” x 5 ½” colored cardstock; a mat piece 4” x 5 ¼” (I used Whisper White) •Insert: 4 ¼” x 11” (Don’t Fold); Whisper White/Neutral color @ 2 ¼”x 4” •DSP: 2 pieces @ 1 ¼” x 4”; 2 pieces @ 2 ¼” x 4”, 1 piece @ ½” x 4”(I used 4 patterns from the same pack) •Inside the Insert: 1 ½ x 9 ½” – I used a color that coordinated with my base color. •Other pieces: Scraps for sentiment. •One set or two stamp sets •Embellishments, dies, punches, and inks of your choice •Tape, glue, dimensionals, scissors etc.

Score your 4 ½” x 11 at 3”; 5 ½’; 8”; and 9 ½’
Then fold as shown in the photo on the right.

1. Attach your card base (notice it is a card front only-not a folded card like usual) and mat pieces together.

2. Attach your DSP pieces to the smallest sections; then your bigger pieces.

3. Attach the Whisper White 2 ¼” x 4 to the last part of the zig zag piece. This will be for your inside message

4. Attach the ½” x 4 piece right next to the Whisper White so they are flush.

5. Attach the zig zag piece to your card base centered.

6. Take your 9 ½” x 1 ½” piece and wrap it around the card adhering it in the front where it overlaps. Not to tight-it’s a belly band.

7. Decorate the belly band.

Add extra focal stamps, ribbons, or embellishments!
