Candy Cane Season!

Who doesn’t like candy canes during the holidays?? I love adding one to my hot chocolate or crushed up on top of baked goodies! After such an odd ball year, I am looking forward to the holidays to decorate and send Christmas cards!

I saw the Sweetest Borders dies that comes in this Sweetest Time bundle and fell in love! I can’t believe I haven’t used the stamp set yet! (Which has tremendous potential on its own too). I remember pulling this out of my pre-order and taking a piece of Real Red and running it through with the die!

First you take a Real Red card base 5 1/2″ x 8 1/2″ and crease with your Bone Folder. Next, take a piece of 5 1/4″ x 4″ piece of Whisper White and run it through the SCEM (Stamp, Cut, & Emboss Machine) with the Subtle 3D Dynamic Embossing Folder. It adds just enough visual interest and texture. Then take a 3″ x 5 1/4″ piece of Real Red and run it through with the Sweetest Borders die. To make the left side more seamless, I used a piece of Silver Foil run through the SCEM with the Tasteful Textiles 3D folder. It kind of reminds me of a Hershey’s Kiss wrapper!

The Silver Foil is then adhered down onto the Real Red and Whisper White to make the candy canes pop! I chose some Rhinestones and the 3/8″ Silver Edged Ribbon for a little extra bling! The sentiment is from the Itty Bitty Christmas stamp set (a must have!) and punched out with the Classic Label Punch! This was a fun and quick card to put together! Now to go use the Sweetest Time Stamp set!

Stunning Idea for the Beautiful Autumn Bundle

Who loves to go on a craft retreat?? ME!! I am sure that I am not alone when I say-we all need time away to recharge-especially now! We always take advantage of the long Labor Day Weekend and go on a craft retreat! This time we chose our favorite, Southern Chic Retreat in Historic Downtown McKinney, Texas! The owners are just as sweet as can be and the retreat is just adorable!

I was inspired by a few cards I saw on Pinterest when I created this card! It uses the Beautiful Autumn Bundle (part of the Gilded Autumn Suite). I love when Stampin’ Up! creates these suites with all the coordinating pieces right at your fingertips!

To create this card you will need the following:

  1. Crumb Cake cardstock for the base cut to 8 1/2″ x 5 1/2″

2. Soft Suede cardstock cut to 4 1/4″x 3 1/4″;

3. Gilded Autumn Specialty DSP: the Cajun Craze design cut to 1 1/2″ x 4″ & the Metallic Acorn design cut to 3″x 4″;

4. a scrap piece of Very Vanilla for your sentiment and die cut out. (I used the Tasteful Labels)

5. Gather your ink pads: Mint Macaron, Cajun Craze, Crumb Cake, Early Espresso, Soft Suede, and Dark Soft Suede Blends marker.

First I folded my Crumb Cake cardstock in half and creased it with my Bone Folder. Next, I took my Dark Soft Suede Blend and used the brush tip side. I tapped it against my Bone Folder onto the Crumb Cake to create the speckled background! Then I adhered the acorn design DSP to the Soft Suede mat and adhered that to the card base using Dimensionals. To create some visual interest, I adhered the Cajun Craze DSP strip on top of the prior piece.

To create the autumn shapes for your sentiment: I stamped Cajun Craze ink onto Cajun Craze cardstock and punched it out with the Autumn Punch pack. The other shapes I stamped the outline images with Early Espresso and followed with stamped off color using the coordinating solid stamp.

To finish off the card, I used the Basket Weave & Metallic ribbon combo to make a bow and cut a strip of the Mint Macaron ribbon.

Welcome Easter Cuteness

With all of the craziness going on, I wanted to spread some cuteness to everyone! I have to admit, more time for crafting is a bonus! When my son and I saw this set, it was a must have! The animals are just too cute and so simple to create quick and fun cards! I am sharing the two that I came up so far with this set! (I still need to make one with the chick!)

The card base is Rococo Rose (LOVE THIS COLOR) I used the Smoky Slate Dark and Light with the color lifter for the fur. Then, I followed up with the Light Blushing Bride for the ears, nose, and paws. The die from the Painted Labels die looked like Easter Grass! Both cards are using the 6×6 In Color 2019-2021 DSP pack for the Gingham.

Here is the second card where I used the sheep stamp and the baby sentiment! I used the Seaside Spray for the card base.

I used Stampin’ Blends to color in the bunny and the sheep. To create the shadow and depth with the sheep, I used the Light Smoky Slate around the lines and then used the Color Lifter to blend into the center of the wool. I used the Ivory marker to color his face. I just love this card!

Jolly Santa & Small Business Saturday Deal

When I first went through the Holiday Catalog, I saw the Holly Jolly bundle and thought it was cute. But it wasn’t on my top wish list. Man, why not??? The dies are super versatile! You can use the sleigh silhouette to create a peaceful card or add the die cut words to your cards/scrapbook pages for extra bling!

So, now I have a Snowfall Puff Paint obsession to go with my Wink of Stella one! (funny I didn’t use the Wink on this card!) But I have used it on wood ornaments, cards, tags, and now Santa!! I love how he turned out! I colored him in with Stampin’ Blends and then was able to cut him out in a snap! There is a die for that!! No fussy cutting!! To make it fun, I ran some Crumb Cake cardstock through the Die Cutting Machine with the Brick Wall 3-D folder. I then used a sponge loaded up with Crumb Cake to give it a distressed look.

I did a color on color background using the present stamp and Cherry Cobbler ink. A quick sentiment using the Stitched Nested Labels dies.

To Celebrate Small Business Saturday, I will send you a ribbon spool of your choice (up to $8) for your order of $50 or more from my site! Be sure to not to mark “no contact” or I can’t mail you your gift! Just go to Laura’s Stampin Up website and enter host code GBQNG2PA!

If you order $150 or more, be sure to make it your own order so you get the host rewards!

Happy Holidays! Laura

Perfectly Plaid

The Perfectly Plaid Bundle has been so useful this season! I have lost count of how many cards, tags, and gift décor I have made with it! This card was for the second Stamp a Stack of Christmas cards I had this month! (It’s my busy season-sorry I haven’t posted as much!)

I started off with a Crumb Cake card base and then a Shaded Spruce background. To create texture, I used the Winter Knit 3D Embossing Folder. Next, I used the Pine Tree punch to cut out 3 trees with the coordinating Wrapped In Plaid 6×6 paper. To create dimension, I used Dimensionals to make the trees pop up on the front of the card. TIP: To center your trees, I adhere the first one in the middle. Then I added a strip of Crumb Cake that I used for the sentiment.

The Pine Cones are accented with Wink of Stella to add some sparkle and I topped each tree with a Gold Metallic pearl. To finish the card, I added a small Linen Thread bow to the center tree. Such a versatile set!

Guess what is coming next week!!! Stampin’ Up! Online Extravaganza on November 20–22, 2019. Stay tuned for more details!

Faux Metal

One of the projects for our monthly stamp club focuses on a technique. October I made this card with the Faux Metal Technique. I love how it turned out! The Come to Gather Suite is just gorgeous! I have made so many cards, décor items, and loose leaves with this bundle!

To create this card, I stamped the grain image with Pretty Peacock on a Pretty Peacock card base. Then I adhered the Come to Gather DSP after cutting the banner on one end. Next, I cut leaves using Early Espresso, Cajun Craze, and Terracotta Tile cardstock.

Now for the fun part! To make the faux metal, I punched a Very Vanilla Thick circle. Then I swiped Versamark ontop of the whole circle, sprinkled it with Silver Emossing Folder, and then heat set it. I reapeated the process 2 more times. But the last time I heat set the embossing powder, I had the stamp ready! While it is still hot, I pressed the stamp down firmly and pushed. I held it there for a few seconds and then pulled it up! The nice thing is if you don’t like the way it looks you can melt another layer and the messed up one will melt with it!

I accented the leaves with Wink of Stella clear and a small piece of the Come Together ribbon. I didn’t want my sentiment to take over, so I found a small one and used the Classic Label punch to cut it out.

Get ready for the Online Extravaganza next week!!!

Beautiful Baubles

The Brightly Gleaming Suite is just gorgeous! There are so many possiblitites using this suite to make cards, pages, framed art, and even ornaments for your tree! This card was made for our first of two Stamp a Stack of cards! It was so much fun to create and the results are so elegant!

I stamped the holly berry bunch randomly on the Pretty Peacock base using matching ink. Next, I used the Copper Delicata Metallic Ink to stamp the smaller ornaments and then punch them out with coordinating punch. Then, I used the bigger ornament punch to cut out an ornament with no fuss! I ran Copper Foil through the die cutting machine using the Hammered Metal 3-D folder. I adhered it to the base and then layered a piece of Very Vanilla to create a focal point for the ornaments. To make the ornaments seem more realistic, I cut out just the tops and adhered them to create the metal tops on the ornaments.

To create the Pretty Peacock bow, I used a Pretty Peacock Blends to color White Baker’s Twine. There is this elegant Classic Weave Ribbon that has copper “Merry Christmas” written on it. I cut a small piece and stabilized it on a Very Vanilla strip of paper.

I love how the card came out and how the colors just compliment one another!

Stay tuned for more fun cards!

Elegant Fir

This card was made for my first Stamp a Stack and it was a favorite with my girls! It was a fun and simple card to create and make! The Perfectly Plaid stamp set and Pine Tree Punch are a must have this season! I have seen so many gorgeous cards, 3-d items, tags, and scrapbook pages using the duo!

For this card, I first stamp the Crumb Cake with the Birch background stamp (I did stamp off first to make it more subtle). Next, I stamped the fir tree with Shaded Spruce onto a piece of Very Vanilla cardstock and cut out with the Stitched Nested Labels. Then I tied a piece of the stunning Shaded Spruce/Gold 3/8″ ribbon into a knot and adhered it below the tree.

I placed a piece of the Toile Tidings DSP onto the card base and then used Dimensionals to adhere the shape with the stamped tree on top of that. I added 2 Gold Foil sprigs that I cut from the Sprig Punch. The final touch was a Gold Metallic Pearl!

What is funny, is last year I looked at the Sprig punch and thought “I don’t need that”. I was sooooo wrong! I love that punch! I have seen cute wreaths made from several that are layered into a circle.

Stay tuned for a 24 hour sale tomorrow, Monday, October 21st!!!!

Let it Snow

Remember my last post about my new obsession with Snow Accent Puff Paint? Well, here is a whimsical snowman car we made for the World Card Making Day yesterday! It was part of a Stamp a Stack of cards! So my amazing ladies made 108 total yesterday! Whew!

Here is a close up of the puff paint as snow balls! It’s just therapeutic to watch it pop up! The background has a quick watercolor wash of Costal Cabana to make the snowballs pop even more!

To make the color combination for this card, I just picked out the snowfall piece from the Let It Snow Specialty DSP. To give the snowman image more texture, I cut it out with the Stitched Shapes dies and added a Real Red Cotton Bow to anchor the image. The girls LOVED this card yesterday!

Be sure to have me listed as your demonstrator so I can send you thank you cards/gifts! I have had a few “no contact” orders, and I would love to thank you for supporting me!

Antique Country Home

I haven fallen in LOVE with the new Snowfall Accents Puff Paint! I have used it for snowballs, these cute cotton balls, and even popcorn! It is a true treat watching it puff up from the heat gun!

TIP: Use a liberal amount on your image; then gradually get closer to the wet puff paint. If you are too close at first, it will move around. Starting further away lets it set some as you move closer in. But, not too close, I have had mine yellow from getting too hot too! You can go back over it if needed to make it puffier. I didn’t put enough on the first project and I went back and added more. Worked like a charm!

To make this card, I stamped the milk can onto the Mercury Glass Acetate sheet with StazOn and fussy cut it out. I then stamped the foliage and the sentiment onto my Crumb Cake piece of card stock Next, I colored the images with the Stampin’ Blends and Wink of Stella Clear. I distressed the edges of the paper with the edge of my scissors and then followed that with a Early Espresso sponge. The base of the card was stamped with the Birch Background and Crumb Cake ink. I wanted it to be subtle so I stamped off onto my grid paper first, then the Whisper White Thick.

I finished the card off withsome Copper Trim. I am so ready for fall!
