Christmas in July!

Is this year flying by for you too?? I just made my first Christmas card of the season! I actually purchased this on my pre-order in April-it was so cute and the coordinating items that go with it! We were at our craft retreat celebrating a milestone birthday for me (yikes…let’s just say my AARP application was in the mail!)!

A great tip that always saves me when I need to come up with a color combination is to look at the back of the Designer Series Paper (DSP) pack. It lists all the colors that coordinate with that paper! I used Soft Succulent as my card base (5 1/2″ x 4 1/4″) and creased it in half. Next, I used the Tidings of Christmas DSP pack and chose 2 designs that complimented each other. (Cherry Cobbler DSP piece 1 1/2″ x 5 1/4″; Evening Evergreen DSP piece 3″ x 5 1/4″) Then I used a great find in the back of the Annual Catalog, Gold & Rose Gold Specialty paper! It added that “pop” I was looking for! I used it for a 1/2″ x 5 1/4″ strip in between the two DSP pieces. The star was cut out using the Gold Specialty paper too.

The tag was cut out with the Stamp, Cut, and Embossing Machine (SCEM) using Tailored Tags Dies with a scrap piece of Soft Succulent. The sentiment was from the Tidings & Trimmings stamp set as well as the tiny star and the ornate star that is stamped with Cherry Cobbler ink. Dimensionals were used to pop up the tag and the ornate start (after it was cut out using the Christmas Tidings dies). To finish the card, I added some Gold Gilded gems and some 1/4″ Gold Shimmer ribbon on the tag!
