Stained Glass Beauty with Vellum & the Fragrant Layers Dies

There’s something magical about turning simple paper into something that looks like stained glass. With just a delicate die cut, vellum, and Stampin’ Blends, you can create a soft, glowing effect that instantly elevates your handmade cards. This technique is easier than it looks and gives you dramatic results with minimal supplies.

For this card, I used the Fragrant Layers dies to create the elegant floral outline. The secret to making this technique effortless is applying an Adhesive Sheet to the back of the Basic Black cardstock before die cutting. This turns your intricate die cut into a sticker, making placement on the vellum quick and frustration-free.

Once the outline was attached to the vellum, I colored on the front side using Stampin’ Blends in Highland Heather (Light & Dark) and Granny Apple Green (Dark). You can also use Window Sheets for a more vibrant glass look! Coloring on the back works well too!

To give the focal panel dimension, I popped it up using Mini Dimensionals onto a piece of Basic White cardstock. The card base is Highland Heather, with a matching mat embossed using the Beautiful Pattern 3D embossing folder, which adds texture without distracting from the focal image.

I placed the stained glass panel toward the upper portion of the card, leaving space for a sentiment below. Small flowers die cut from Lemon Lolly cardstock were added to the centers using Mini Glue Dots for a pop of contrast and brightness. A simple bow made from Black Twine adds the perfect finishing touch and balances the bold black outline.

This technique works beautifully with any outline die and can be customized with endless color combinations. Try soft pastels for spring, rich jewel tones for fall, or classic reds and greens for the holidays.
