Book Treat Boxes with a Lift-Off Lid & Window Sheet

Welcome back to Week 5 of Handmade for the Holidays! This project is one of my absolute favorites because it turns cardstock into a charming little “storybook” that opens to reveal sweet treats inside. And this week, we’re adding an extra touch: a lift-off lid with a clear window, so your goodies peek through like a surprise waiting to be unwrapped.

These Book Treat Boxes make wonderful stocking stuffers, teacher gifts, table favors, and neighbor surprises. They look fancy but come together quickly with just a few score lines and a bit of adhesive!

✂️ Supplies

• Real Red Cardstock: 5 5/8″ x 4 7/8″
• Window Sheet: 3 1/2″ x 2 3/4″
• Simply Scored Board & Stylus
• Nested Labels Dies (largest rectangle)
• Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine
• Tear & Tape + Liquid Glue
• Christmas Tags & More 6×6 DSP for decorating
• Bling

📚 Create the Lid with Window

1. Score the Cardstock
   Place the 5 5/8 x 4 7/8 Real Red cardstock on your Simply Scored Board and score 1″ on all four sides. Fold all the score lines, then flatten the piece again.
2. Die-Cut the Window Opening
   Center the largest rectangle die from the Nested Labels Dies inside the scored area and run it through the Stampin’ Cut & Emboss Machine. This creates the opening for your window sheet.
3. Prep the Tabs
   Cut up to the score line on both long sides to create tabs.
   Trim small wedges from each tab so your corners fit neatly when assembled.
4. Assemble the Lid
   Add Tear & Tape to each tab and adhere them to the inside of the lid walls.
   With the shape formed, glue the window sheet to the back of the opening using small dots of liquid glue around the edge.

🎁 Attach the Lid to the Book Treat Box

Fold all of the score lines on your Book Treat Box base and cover.

Place the finished lid onto the treat box base, then lay the entire piece on the spine of the Book Treat Box cover. Once everything is aligned, peel off the Tear & Tape and press the cover closed to secure it.
Your “book” is now ready to open and close beautifully!
