If you’ve been crafting for a while, you probably have a little stash of Designer Series Paper scraps you can’t bear to throw away. The good news? Those scraps are perfect for making quick and easy cards that look like you spent hours on them!
Today I’m sharing one of my go-to methods for turning those bits into beautiful handmade cards — using the gorgeous Charming Day Designer Series Paper. This paper features muted florals and soft coordinating colors, making it super easy to mix and match patterns.
What You’ll Need
- Charming Day Designer Series Paper (DSP)
- Coordinating cardstock for your card base & layers
- Paper Trimmer
- Adhesive
- Sentiment stamp & ink
- Embellishments (optional, but I always say yes to sparkle!)
Step-by-Step: The DSP Strip Technique
- Cut Your Strips – Trim your DSP into strips. I like 1″ x 4″, but you can vary the width for a more eclectic look.
- Arrange on Card Base – Play around with straight lines, a staggered layout, or even a diagonal arrangement for more movement.
- Add a Layer – Mount your strips on a piece of coordinating cardstock for a framed, polished look.
- Stamp & Attach Sentiment – Keep it simple so the patterned paper is the star of the show.
- Finish with Embellishments – Rhinestones, pearls, or enamel dots are perfect little touches.
The Charming Day DSP is a crafter’s dream because the patterns and colors are designed to coordinate perfectly. Whether you mix florals with subtle textures or stick to one color family, your card will look beautifully pulled together.
Quick Tips
- Use up those odd-shaped scraps — as long as they’re wide enough, they can be turned into strips!
- Try a monochromatic look by choosing DSP patterns in the same color family.
- Keep a few pre-cut strips on hand for last-minute card emergencies.
