Country Cracked Glass

IMG_3788

Who doesn’t love a great masculine birthday card?  I don’t know about you, but I sometimes have a hard time making cards that aren’t too girly!  The Country Home stamp set is perfect for your rustic cards, masculine cards, or country scrapbooking pages!

The technique has been around for a while.  I saw a few on Pinterest and I had to make on again!  When I first joined Stampin’ Up! in 2007, we sold Glassy Glaze!  I stamped my images on a light colored cardstock and then spread VersaMark liberally on top of the whole piece of stamped paper.  Next, I covered the whole piece with Clear Embossing powder and heat set.  (you can heat set from under you paper too).  Once it is cooled off, I repeated the process 2 more times to make a total of 3 layers.  You want it to look shiny and feel pretty thick.  Then I placed it in the freezer for about 5 minutes.  Remove the piece and quickly bend in random places.  If becomes to pliable, then pop it back in the freezer and try again.

I then took a sponge with Soft Suede ink and rubbed over the areas with the cracks. Some of them I bent slightly to be sure the ink really accented the cracks.

To frame the image, I ran Soft Suede through a die cutting machine with the Corrugated 3-D Embossing folder. Then I placed the image onto an Early Espresso mat and adhered it off center. I finished the card with a True Gentleman (retiring) button with two pieces of Linen Thread tied together with the sentiment.
